COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
At our lodge, community involvement is at the heart of our mission. Through our programs, we are dedicated to making a positive impact and creating a more compassionate society.
The St Andrew's Lodge Sunshine Fund
The St. Andrew's Lodge Sunshine Fund is a charitable foundation established by the Lodge in 1967. The fund is administered by volunteers, therefore 100% of the donations go to the programs supported by the fund.

The Ernie Wilkes Scholarship Fund
This Ernie Wilkes Scholarship Fund aims to support four exceptional graduating high school seniors from local HRM high schools. Our goal is to provide financial assistance to deserving students who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership skills, and community involvement. We believe that investing in education is crucial for the future success of our community, and we are proud to support this cause
The Annual New Year's Levee
The New Year's Day levee is a cherished tradition of St. Andrew's Lodge that stands unbroken since 1750. This Nova Scotia tradition provides a wonderful opportunity for the lodge and the community to meet and exchange greetings of goodwill to mark the start of the new year. Held at the Maritime Center in Halifax on New Year's Day, the community is invited to join the lodge for light refreshments and conversation. Following informal tradition, the St. Andrew's levee is also traditionally on the levee route between the Mayor and city council's Levee at City Hall and the Lieutenant Governor's levee at Government House.
The Masonic Foundation of Nova Scotia
While St. Andrew's Lodge No. 1, like all Freemasons’ Lodges throughout the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia support our communities in our own right, the Masonic Foundation of Nova Scotia is the body mainly responsible for the management and distribution of money for benevolant purposes; including assistance given through the Assisted Home Program and shared funding with Lodges pursuing local community and bursary programs such as the Ernie Wilkes Scholarship Fund..
